About Chany

Lessons that sound like you, not like a method book.

Chany has spent years helping singers of every age find a sound that feels natural, supported, and unmistakably their own. Her studio grew out of a simple belief: technique matters, but it should never get in the way of the music a student actually wants to make.

Every lesson is built around the person in front of her. That might mean careful breath and posture work for a beginner who has never sung outside the car, ear training and theory for a student preparing for a program, or repertoire coaching for someone getting ready to perform. The pacing follows the student, never a fixed curriculum.

Above all, the studio is a warm room. Students are encouraged to make sound before they make it perfect, to ask questions, and to leave every lesson with one small thing they can practice with confidence during the week.

Lessons

Two ways to start

Every student begins with a conversation about where they are and where they'd like to go. From there it comes down to how you'd like to learn — one-on-one with Chany, or alongside a few friends.

One-on-one

Private Sessions

$95 per session

Chany's full attention, on your voice alone. Sessions happen at the Monsey studio, with live accompaniment at the piano and the hands-on coaching that only works in the room.

  • One-on-one with Chany at the Monsey studio
  • Live accompaniment at the piano
  • Hands-on posture, breath, and resonance coaching
  • Repertoire chosen around your voice and taste
  • A written practice plan after every session
  • Performance and audition preparation

Can't make it to the studio? The same session runs live over Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime, with Chany teaching in real time — never pre-recorded, never self-paced. Same session, same attention, different room. Same price either way.

How It Works

From first message to first lesson

Four simple steps. Most students go from first message to first lesson within a week or two.

  1. Reach out

Send a short note through the form below with the student's age and what you're hoping to work on. You'll usually hear back within a day or two.

  2. Talk it through

A short conversation about where your voice is now and what you'd like to work toward — and whether a private session or a group class is the better fit for you.

  3. Book your first session

Settle on private or group, then lock in a weekly time that fits around school, work, and family.

  4. Start learning

Singing begins, with a written practice plan each week and steady, encouraging feedback as your voice grows.

Weekly Schedule

Open Times

These are recurring weekly slots — the time you choose stays yours week after week. Asking for one starts a conversation with Chany, not an instant booking.

Please send a message for Chany's current open times.

Nothing here fits your week? Reach out anyway — the schedule shifts as students come and go, and Chany will tell you what is opening up.

A Welcome Gift

Welcome to the studio

Every new student receives a Voice by Chany sweatshirt when they start lessons. Beginning here means joining a studio rather than booking a service, and this is how that welcome begins. Consider it ours to give and yours to keep.

Kind Words

What students say

I came in barely willing to sing in front of anyone. Six months later I sang a solo at our community center's spring concert. Chany made every step feel possible.
Sarah, adult student
My daughter looks forward to her lesson all week. She's learning real technique, but it never feels like a chore to her.
Miriam, parent
The theory work changed everything for me. I finally understand what I'm singing instead of just copying a recording.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Students from about age 7 through adult. Younger students work in shorter, game-based lessons that build ear and rhythm before formal technique; teens and adults move at whatever pace suits their goals. There is no upper age limit — plenty of adult beginners start here.

Every session starts with warm-ups that wake the voice up gently, moves into technique — breath, posture, tone, range — and then into the music itself, whether that's a piece you brought or one Chany suggests. You leave with a written practice plan for the week. Students preparing for an audition or a performance often book back-to-back sessions; just ask.

None at all. A good number of students arrive having never sung outside their own kitchen. The first lessons focus on breath, posture, and simply getting comfortable making sound out loud — everything else is built on top of that.

Group classes are for girls aged [AGE RANGE] who would rather start out among friends than alone in a room with a teacher. Each class is five girls — no more — and every girl pays $35 for each session she attends.

They are not a smaller version of a private session; they are a different thing. The group sings together, learns harmony together, and gets used to using their voices in front of other people, which is the part that most often holds a young singer back. Chany still hears each girl individually within the class. A private session is the better choice for a student who wants Chany's full attention on her own voice, or who is working toward something specific like an audition.

Most students hold a standing weekly time that stays theirs for the season, which makes practice a habit rather than an errand. Afternoon, evening, and some daytime slots are available. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule so the time can be offered to someone else.

A water bottle, something to take notes on, and any song you're working on — or one you'd love to learn. And a big smile. That really is the whole list: nothing to prepare, nothing to buy, and no experience required.

Private sessions happen at the Monsey studio, with live accompaniment at the piano — that is the fullest version of a session. If you cannot get to the studio, the same session runs online, and to clear up the most common question: online sessions are live. Chany is right there over Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime, listening and teaching in real time as you sing. Nothing is pre-recorded, self-paced, or a video course. Same session, same attention, different room — and the same price. Group classes meet in person at the studio.
